College football week 2 recap

Welcome to the college football week 2 recap, where I cover what went right and what went wrong on the games that I picked.  For the week my picks went 8-4, moving us to 12-9-1 through 2 weeks.  Hopefully we can keep some momentum going into week 3, but more on that later.

For the Thursday night game I thought Louisiana Tech was the real deal, they just couldn’t get a stop when they needed it.  It was a shame.  This was the only game of the week that I went against the computer generated value (was a -3).  Lesson learned. 0-1; 4-6-1

Friday Night I was in on Utah.  Thought I had this one, but they just couldn’t pull away.  The starting QB got hurt, and the offense sputtered a bit after that.  They won the game, but just not by enough.  Defense looks strong, keep them in mind for some under/teaser play later on.  0-2; 4-7-1

Saturday we get into a different story.  After the 2 weekday games I thought I was in for trouble, but I trusted my system and went with the research.  It worked as I was able to close out the week at 8-2.

It all started with Michigan at noon.  They struggled in the first half, but really put it on the Beaver in the second half.  You could actually see the wind go out of the Beavers sail.  Wonder why I keep saying Beaver?  Cause I like saying Beaver.  Michigan cruised for an easy victory. 1-2; 5-7-1

Kicking off the 330 games was Ole Miss.  They got off to a hot start, cooled off for a bit, and then relit the torch and finished with a devastating blow and a great cover.  Fresno State gave a valiant effort, but in the end it’s hard to travel a couple thousand miles and play in front of 80,000+ screaming drunk people.  That’s the definition of a hostile territory when it comes to sports.  2-2; 6-7-1

Rutgers game should’ve been a victory.  There was no reason to lose this game, except that the Rutgers defense has more holes than swiss cheese, Budummp cha.  I don’t blame the kids though, I blame the play caller that put them in the prevent defense.  Prevent defense doesn’t prevent shit.  Give a good QB enough time to see who’s where and he’ll pick a prevent apart.  It happens every fucking week.  Don’t run the prevent defense, just don’t fucking do it.  2-3; 6-8-1

I noted that Eastern Michigan and Wyoming were rated very similarly and there was no reason for it to be a 13 point line.  Then EMU not only covered, they pulled the outright upset.  Didn’t trail the whole game.  Dominated the game on the road.  This ain’t yo daddy’s EMU squads.  And you all laughed when I picked them too 3-3; 7-8-1

Man Fuck Florida.  I over corrected for this team.  Went against them in week 1 and lost.  Went with them in week 2 and lost.  I see a trend developing, no more gambling on Florida unless I’m really sure.  3-4; 7-9-1

California showed up on Saturday.  In this game I noted how good the Freshman QB was in week 1, and he didn’t disappoint in week 2.  Cal took control of this game from the beginning, and never looked back.  There was no jeopardy of them not covering this game.  Good team to watch, might be able to get 1 more game out of them before Vegas adjusts there number and we lose value.  4-4; 8-9-1

I asked if Texas A&M could beat Ball State by 5 touchdowns, and the answer was yes.  A very emphatic yes to be exact.  Game was covered/over by half time.  Love the fact they kept pedal down whole time.  This team is legit.  5-4; 9-9-1

I know everyone had to think I was crazy when I said to lay the points with Texas.  Well, I told you so.  This was the Texas team I expected in week 1 against Notre Dame.  This is the Texas team you will see more out of.  6-4; 10-9-1

Like Fresno State travelling to Mississippi, Central Florida was traveling across country.  Except they were going from Florida to Northern California, which is a much longer flight.  Sure it’s easier to travel west, but this game didn’t kick off until 1030 at night for these kids normal time.  That took it’s toll, especially after that big Stanford offensive line pounded on them for a few quarters.  7-4; 11-9-1

BYU did it again.  Back to back weeks as an underdog and winning outright.  This one was another great game.  They got a pick six at the end after they took the lead to make the score a bit misleading.  Don’t get me wrong, this is a very talented team, but they’ve been pushed to the end on both games.  Will be interesting to see how Vegas adjusts them over the next couple of weeks.  8-4; 12-9-1

There you have it, that’s who covered and who I fucked up on.  Luckily I got more covers this week.  I’ll take the 66.67% for the week as it brings the total to 57.14%.  Remember because of the juice you need to win 53% of the time to make money.  We’re doing that after week 2, now lets get ready for week 3 and have another big week.
