College Football week 1 Sunday Funday

Normally Sunday’s are spent watching NFL football, and I’d have those picks published for you to follow.  Unfortunately, college starts a week before the NFL, creating a mass void for 1 week.  Coming down from the high of footballs return is a worse hangover than too many tequila shots.  Fortunately, the good folks in media programing realized this void and make a nice show of faith by providing 1 game on Sunday.  It’s like the hair of the dog, much needed, but not quite enough for a full recovery.  In light of this, I’ve decided to do a Sunday Funday pick, kind of like a blue light special, if you want to pick it up you can, if you pass you probably won’t even remember you considered action on the game.

Purdue @ Marshall -7:
This game didn’t make my “the weekend” selections, mainly because it missed my value cut off of 3+.  Every time I looked at this game I thought Marshall is going to smoke them, and disagreed with what the computer was telling me, and since I was split on the game, I couldn’t recommend it.  This morning I’ve taken a more open approach to this game and removed my bias towards Marshall.  I think the computer is right, this shouldn’t be a touchdown game.  These 2 teams are very closely rated and could be pick em on a neutral field.  So I looked into each teams experience, and there is another indicator pointing towards Purdue.  Purdue has 15 returning starters while Marshall only has 11, and has a new starting QB.  In addition to that, Purdue’s head coach is entering his 3rd season leading the team, and that is usually the money season for a head coach as he has his scheme fully integrated, and multiple rounds of bringing in his players.  Look for Purdue to keep it closer than expected.

Thanks for stopping by.  Good luck if you choose to use this information for anything.  If you like what I’m doing, tell you friends.  If you don’t like what I have to say, tell your enemy, I don’t care just tell someone.
